Why use Google Search Console?
1. Performance monitoring
Google Search Console provides detailed data on your site’s performance in Google search results. It offers an overview of the search terms users have used to find your site, the number of clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position for each search term.
2. URL inspection
The URL inspection tool lets you check how Google sees a specific page on your site. You can see whether Google was able to crawl and index it correctly, and whether the page is optimized for mobile devices. You can also see when the page was last crawled and which resources were loaded during the crawl.
3. Coverage report
The coverage report provides information about which pages of your site Google was or was not able to index. It lists crawl errors, pages blocked by the robots.txt file and indexation issues that could prevent your site from ranking well in search results.
4. Sitemap management
Google Search Console allows you to submit a sitemap to help Google understand your site’s structure and find all its pages. This is particularly useful for large sites with thousands of pages, or for sites that have content buried deep within their navigation structure.
5. Links

To access Google Search Console, you first need to register your website. You can do this by logging in to your Google account, going to the Search Console homepage and adding your site’s URL.
Google Search Console offers precise data on your site’s performance in Google search results. It provides information on the keywords driving traffic to your site, crawl and indexation errors, mobile performance issues and much more. All of this information can be used to optimize your site and improve its ranking in search results.
Crawl errors occur when Googlebot — Google’s crawling bot — encounters a problem trying to crawl a page on your site. This can happen for various reasons, such as a page that doesn’t exist, a page blocked by your site’s robots.txt file, or a page that takes too long to load.
The “Links to your site” section of Google Search Console gives information about other websites that contain links pointing to your site. These links, also known as backlinks, are an important factor in your site’s ranking in Google search results.
If your site is small and easy for Google to crawl, you may not need to submit a sitemap. However, if your site is large or has a complex architecture, submitting a sitemap can help Google discover all your site’s pages. When in doubt, it’s always good practice to submit one.
How to fix an error depends on the type of error. Google Search Console will give you details about the error, including guidance on how to resolve it. Once you’ve fixed the error, you can mark it as resolved in Search Console and request that Google re-crawl the page.
